This is a wonderful brush. Well made, gives incredible value for your pound and is a real pleasure to lather up with. It’s just the right size for face lathering, works well with soaps or creams and retains heat through a third pass.
This was a great addition to my rotation of brushes!

A ‘must have’ brush. Beautifully made to last a lifetime. The densely packed knot gives plenty of backbone to easily produce a lather like Vesuvius from soaps or creams. A little more expensive than the average brush ,but we’ll worth every penny. Another masterpiece from the Simpsons stable.

First time I have ever spent so much time researching both the producer and the product for an item and it was worth it. The Colonel X2L is a superb brush, dense and with plenty backbone (my sample has a 23mm knot), equally at home with either soaps or creams. I have four Simpson best badger brushes: Chubby 2, Commodore X3, Duke 3 and the Colonel; and if I was forced to choose just one of them (although I would be very loathe to part with my Chubby 2) it would be this one. It’s just an all-round good egg; and, imho, knocks the socks off the Duke 3, in terms of performance, for a fraction of the price. HIGHLY recommended!

Bought this as a replacement for my Vulfix Hyde Park, which had become a bit like a mop on my face after much use.
Upon receiving this brush it was very clear that I had bought a quality bit of kit. The brush is a nice size, looks good and is firm enough to nicely whip up a good lather quickly and raise the bristles upon application. Very happy with it.
The only thing is, with this brush being so good I am intrigued to see what the other Simpson brushes are like, especially the ‘Chubby 2’…..I may have to find out!

This shaving brush is great. I used to use a men-ü and previously had another “off the shelf in department store” quality (probably synthetic) kind of brush. I ordered it yesterday and shaved first time with it today. Delivery was excellent and fast. The brush is so much better than my old one and the lather is much richer. I highly recommend it!
